First lay your batik blocks out on a flat surface and arrange into the 6 x 7 block layout of your quilt.
Next, chain piece the black 3.5" x 8.5" rectangles in between each batik block to create 6 long sets of block strips.
Finally, piece together two 5" strips into one long strip. This is the middle, vertical sashing strip.
Do the same for the 3.5" strip and 2" strip to make two long 3.5" strips and two long 2" strips.
Pin the strips to your block strips in the following manner:

Once the quilt is completely pieced, connect your 5.5" border strips together to create 4 long 5.5" border strips.
Attach 2 strips to the sides of the quilt. Press and square off the ends with your rotary cutter.
Attach the remaining 2 strips to the bottom and top of the quilt. Press and square off the ends to finish.
