Free Motion Flower Bouquet

Created Spring 2011

This was a fun little wallhanging I created in the spring of 2011 to experiment with free motion flowers. The vase and flower stems were hand appliqued onto a purple background, then a black border was pieced around the purple. The quilt was then quilted using the following designs:

Flowers: Sunflower, Spinning Daisy, Woven Flower, Loopy Flower, Super Daisy

Vase: Pebbles in a Stream

Background: Sharp Stippling was used over the purple background, Gentle Flames was quilted in blue thread below the vase.

Border: This area was filled with a connecting version of Ocean Currents in green thread, then the opposite side of this foundational design was filled with black thread.

I do have plans to turn this little wallhanging into a pattern or a video tutorial in 2012.
