Free Motion QuiltingChuck Your Walking Foot and Embrace the World of Free Motion Quilting! On August 14th, 2009 I began the 365 Days of Free Motion Quilting Filler Designs Project. Every day I design a new free motion quilting stitch, shoot a video, and share it with everyone online. I was inspired to start this project because I felt limited by the free motion designs I used in my quilts. Most quilters really only use 4 main designs: Stippling, McTavishing, Pebbling, and Paisley. Click

You literally have to learn how to "draw" with your sewing machine needle. Learn how to master using your hand as a guide in this video on maintaining consistent lines. A lot of quilters struggle with quilting quilts on domestic sewing machines. I've found that you can greatly improve your free motion quilting ability simply by improving your sewing machine setup. Having your machine on a flush table and against the wall can only do so much. There are also many tools and supplies which can make free motion quilting even big quilts much easier. Learn more about these tools and notions with this video demonstration. Finally, I'm sure you'd like to know more about the sewing machine I use and how I've modified it to make it work really well for me. Click here to learn more about my machine in another video. Check
