The Hills Are AliveThis quilt was created in the summer of 2008, and it is the 4th goddess I've created in the series so far. I designed this quilt to see if I could combine my love for landscapes and goddesses into one quilt, and also if I could keep the size of the quilt relatively small. Unfortunately I still hadn't learned to prewash my fabric yet and some of the dark green fabrics bled into the yellow hair areas. After considering many options, I finally fixed the mistake with a Gold Irridescent Paintstik. The Hills Are Alive was pieced together using Ann Holmes's No Sewing Until You Quilt It method of piecing with french fuse interfacing. I actually didn't take a stitch on this quilt until it was already basted together and ready to quilt! The name of this quilt makes a reference to the Sound of Music and the lyrics of the main song "The hills are alive with the sound of music"
