View From The
Porch

I created this
quilt for the "Put a Roof Over Our Head" quilting contest
for Alliance For American Quilts in Spring 2006.
I was living in
the mountains at the time and liked the idea of doing a landscape.
As the idea evolved I began to picture myself standing on a porch,
looking out over the mountainous landscape. My real life front porch
looked out onto a garden and a driveway at the time. Not exactly picturesque!
This quilt was
made using Ann Holmes's No Sewing
Until You Quilt It method of french fusible applique. This
piecing technique allows you to get the whole quilt top together without
taking a single stitch until you're ready to quilt your quilt!
In the summer
of 2006, I created a variation of this quilt called "Pyramid
Landscape" for a family member.
