Winter Wonderland Quilt
I started this quilt back in November 2009 as a way to test a new technique called Reverse Shadow Trapunto. While this technique sounds extremely complex, Reverse Shadow Trapunto was actually developed to make shadow trapunto easier! After creating Vase of Hibiscus with shadow trapunto I found that the slightest miss-snip with my scissors could put permanent holes in the silk organza I was using. Even after quilting, I couldnt hide these holes. After thinking about it a lot, I realized that by reversing the technique, the whole process would not only be easier, but a lot less delicate and stressful too! This quilt was also designed to be made in the Quilt as You Go method of quilting each block separately, then connecting them together at the end. This makes the quilting process very easy because the largest block you will have to work with is only 25. After seeing the finished quilt and sharing it with my readers at the 365 Days of Free Motion Quilting Filler Designs blog, I realized that I couldnt keep this pattern or technique to myself! The Winter Wonderland Quilt Pattern was created so that you can not only make this beautiful Winter Wonderland quilt, but also learn the technique and experiment with it on your future quilts. An 8" x 10" signed and matted print of this quilt is now available in the Day Style Designs Quilt Shop. All prints are matted with a white mat to 11" x 14" and ready to frame.
