The key to the simplicity of this quilt lies in the Reverse Shadow Trapunto Technique. This technique involves layering felt over fabric, stitching your motif, then clipping out the motif design. What looks like complex and impossible appliqued snowflakes are actually just clipped felt!

Another thing that makes Winter Wonderland so easy to create is the Quilt As You Go method of putting it together. Each block is first created, fully quilted, then put together with the other blocks to complete the quilt, so you don't have to fight the bulk and weight of the whole quilt.
